OUR SITUATION:
This is a challenging time for ACS, its members and their employers. We face many challenges: recession, high unemployment, globalization, environmental disasters, intellectual property disputes, major changes in information technology, and more. I am pleased to contribute my skills and experience to the Board, as ACS navigates these and as-yet unforseen challenges.
APPROACH:
My goal on the ACS leadership team is to work with other Board members to ensure that ACS provides the best possible service to members and the chemical enterprise.
I believe a Board member’s first responsibility is to make decisions that ensure ACS remains financially strong and able to serve members’ evolving needs. My approach is to diligently do my homework, collaborate with other Board members, make courageous decisions when required, and be as transparent as possible.
As an ACS Board member, my decisions are driven by the desire to:
- Ensure Strong Local Sections and Divisions – Our Frontline in Serving Members!
- Provide Maximum Value to Members — With Flexibility and Agility
- Promote Our Ability to Effectively Advocate — For Chemists, Chemistry and ACS
